LoTi 1

posted Monday, 28 April 2008

As a student teacher I am currently at level one. Many classrooms I have seen/visited are between a level one or two. Although students use technology, I do not think students get to spend enough time at the computer stations. I plan to be at a level two when I begin teaching, and to progressive move through the levels throughout my teaching career. It is my responsibity to create educational learning opportunities students.

I have experienced Levels 3-6 as a college student. When I was thinking of becoming a travel agent, I was going to start and online business(Level 5). Level 6 is opimal, I wish that every student will have a computer or the use a one in their own homes and in the community.

I think that one of the great reasons to look at the LoTi scale is in using it with students. To get them to think and evaluate, and come to decisions or conclusions. Kids seem to like breaking things down into levels - like rating a movie on a scale of 1-10 for example. Seems to come natural. Then we can extend the thinking to other, more complicated areas.

Jackie,

I completely understand what you mean! I think most of the classrooms at my school are at a level 1 or 2 as well. However, most of the students at my school do own computers at home, which in my opinion is even worse because if the teachers took the time t learn some new strategies the new learning that could occur would be impressive.
