The first Pod cast I visited was the First grade Ant podcast on
the Radio Willow Web . Sarah the narrator provided excellent transitions
, and a great introduction. She spoke well, and I could tell that she was an
excellent reader. The other students also did a great job of reading
during their presentations. After each person spoke they
"handed it back" to Sarah who introduced the next speaker which
gave the podcast a real "news like" feel. Kudos to the teacher!!!
The second podcast I want to comment on is Podcasting with
Mrs. S – middle school Podomatic link. I wanted to leave a comment
about this Podcast because I was not expecting to hear, what I heard.
I have to admit. I was expecting something boring. How much fun can
vocabulary be. Ms. Saunders changed the way I view vocabulary. I am
working on my song to provide inspiration. I could see her playing the
song as children wait in expectation to began vocabulary. She also could
have extended the song to include the words, their spelling, and
definitions.
Both podcasts were high energy, and I was inspired to complete one
myself. I see how the podcast could be used in the classroom; for
instruction, a project, or introduction to new material. Although I feel alittle
nervousness I am ready to begin podcasting.
Time, Time, Time is always and obstacle for
implementing new technology into the classroom. However,
I feel that podcasting can be implemented in the
curriculum if the proper planing takes place. I think
podcasting works great in grade 3-5 at the elementary level
because some of their work is project/resource based, and
the podcast can be used as means of presenting the
students findings.
Jackie, You said :"I think podcasting works great in grade 3-5 at the

be used as means of presenting the students findings." Several of my 4th
graders felt exactly as you said. They asked to do podcasts on topics such
as seedlings, a hike, a hailstorm, and other topics. Once they have learned
how to use the computer to make a podcast, they basically do it on their
own! Some kids come in early, others skip lunch recess to make podcasts.
The best ones seem to be the ones that they have chosen and they want to do
- I just try and make sure that they work on clear speaking and making sure
the podcast makes sense.
